Product Overview

MRVP Broth HX-Media, also known as Buffered Glucose Broth, is used for performing the Methyl Red (MR) and Voges–Proskauer (VP) tests—two key assays for differentiating Enterobacteriaceae based on their glucose fermentation pathways. Its buffered formulation stabilizes pH changes, allowing clear detection of mixed-acid fermentation (MR) or acetoin production (VP). MRVP Broth is widely used in clinical, food, water, and research laboratories for biochemical identification of Gram-negative rods.

🧪 Composition (Typical)

• Peptone: 7.0 g/L

• Dextrose (Glucose): 5.0 g/L

• Dipotassium Phosphate: 5.0 g/L

🛠️ How to Use

1. Inoculate broth and incubate at 35–37°C for 24–48 hours.

2. For MR test: Add Methyl Red indicator; red = MR positive.

3. For VP test: Add VP reagents I & II; red = VP positive.

⏳Storage and Shelf Life

• Store dehydrated medium below 30°C, dry and protected from light.

• Keep container tightly sealed; use before expiry.

• Prepared broth: store at 2–8°C and use within 1–2 weeks.
