Product Description
Tryptic Soya Broth (Soybean Casein Digest Broth) – HX-Media
Product Overview
Tryptic Soya Broth (TSB), also referred to as Soybean Casein Digest Broth, is a highly nutritious, non-selective liquid culture medium formulated for the cultivation, enrichment, and maintenance of a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including aerobic, facultative anaerobic bacteria, and certain fungi and yeasts.
The medium is composed of enzymatic digests of casein (animal protein) and soybean meal (plant protein), which together provide a balanced and abundant supply of amino acids, peptides, nitrogen, vitamins, and trace nutrients essential for rapid microbial growth. This dual-source nutrient system enhances the growth of both fastidious and non-fastidious organisms, making Tryptic Soya Broth one of the most versatile and widely accepted general-purpose broths.
Tryptic Soya Broth is extensively used in pharmaceutical quality control, biotechnology, food and beverage testing, environmental monitoring, and clinical microbiology. Tryptic Soya Broth is officially recognized in major pharmacopoeias such as USP (United States Pharmacopeia), EP (European Pharmacopoeia), JP (Japanese Pharmacopoeia), and IP (Indian Pharmacopoeia), particularly for sterility testing and microbial limit tests.
Due to its excellent buffering capacity, nutrient richness, and reproducibility, Tryptic Soya Broth supports luxuriant growth, making it ideal for inoculum preparation, culture propagation, and recovery of stressed or injured microorganisms.
